I love the Catskills

It was a long weekend filled with hiking and fresh air. It's hard being back in the city.

Happy Friday
(picture of Kaaterskill Falls)
The boyfriend and I have a four day weekend this weekend. We'll be up in the Catskills for the next few days going hiking, eating great food and being in good company. Yesterday in the city it was about 80 degrees. Up here it's about 45 and most of the leaves have started changing. I love it! Have a great weekend!

Something's Hiding in Here

Whenever I feel the need for some inspiration I go to Something's Hiding in Here's blog. Their loft is the coolest apartment I've ever seen.

For me, for you necklaces

For me, for you is one of my daily reads. Kate Miss (the author) sells her handmade necklaces from time and time. This morning she had one of her sales on etsy and I was too slow and missed out because they all sold out in FOUR MINUTES! Crazy right? Hopefully I won't miss the next sale. I think it's time for me to take my jewelry supplies out again.

TOMS

I'm a big fan of TOMS Shoes. Two years ago I bought the original Toms. I wore them so much that they almost have holes at the bottom. When I saw they came out with a new style I figured I should go ahead and buy a new pair. They cost a little more than I'd like to pay for a basic sneaker but it's for a great cause. With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. Pretty cool, huh?

D.I.Y. Wedding Favors

Supplies needed:
Cellophane Bags - 4"w x 4.5"h
Tissue Paper - 5.5"w x 11"h
65# Paper (Tent Cards) - 11" x 17" cut down to 3.75"w x 4.5"h
Ribbon
Hole Punch
Ruler
Awl (optional)
Filling for good bag - in this case we used taffy (7 pieces)

Once you have your supplies ready and your design for your tent cards; print, cut and fold each tent card. Fold each piece of tissue paper in half length wise. Place the tissue paper in each bag and fill with taffy. Place a tent card at the end of the bag and use your hole punch to punch 2 holes (about .75" from each side). Next, if you have an awl, use it to make your hole a little bigger to make it easier for yourself to tie the ribbon through. Then tie your ribbon through, tie a knot in the middle and Viola - a goody bag! Each one takes a little while to put together but they're worth it in the end because they turn out pretty cute.
P.s. My camera is on the fritz. It might be because I've dropped it a dozen times or maybe it's because it's from 2004. - ancient! Have a great weekend!

Now that fall is on it's way, I'm dying to go shopping. I might have to hit up Madewell. I'll take one of everything, please!
