Happy New Year!

2011 was an amazing year. I saw my little sis graduate college, surprised my mom for Mother's Day in North Carolina, saw my older sister marry her best friend in Nantucket, planned a wedding, found out I was going to become an Aunt (again!), became a "Mrs." and honeymooned in Greece. It's hard to believe that all of that happened in one year.

So now it's a new year and with that some changes - a new blog (that I will announce on Friday), a career change and hopefully a new place to call home. I have some big plans for 2012. So here's to hoping! What are your plans for the new year?

The Holidays Are Here

The presents are wrapped and they're under our tree but I have to admit I'm still not completely in the holiday spirit. I'm not sure if it's because of the 60 degree weather we've been having here or if it's because we're not going to my Mom's this year. Hopefully it hits me soon!

We're off to a fancy lunch with some cocktails at Balthazaar's in Soho. Then we're having my sister-in-law and her family over for the night. Six people in our 700 sq.ft should be interesting... Then it's up to the cabin we go.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and thank you so much for all your sweet comments throughout the year! Your readership means more to me than you can imagine. Happy Holidays!

Out On The Weekend

The trip to the cabin was refreshing as ever. We woke up early every morning, ate lots of Thanksgiving food, went on hikes and played this game (which is hilarious) multiple times. How was your holiday? Everyone ready for the big holiday rush? I'm sure not...

Holiday in the Catskills

This will be my first Thanksgiving I don't go home to my mom's house. I'm a bit sad but at the same time I'm relieved that I don't have to travel very far. On Wednesday, Brett and I will be driving up to the cabin for a much needed 4.5 day weekend away from the city.

Thanksgiving is obviously a time to think about all the things you're thankful for and I must say that I'm really grateful for the cabin. If we didn't have a place to go outside the city, I think the both of us would go a little crazy. Being amongst trees and breathing in fresh air is the best kind of stress reliever.

How are you spending the holiday?

Thanksgiving: Diner Style

In the latest issue of Sunset Magazine, they featured a unique way to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner - diner style. I'm pretty traditional when it comes to Thanksgiving so I'm not sure this would work for me. Still looks pretty tasty though... do you ever change it up for Thanksgiving?

My Weekend

Long weekends are the best, aren't they? We decided not to go up to the cabin and ended going to the beach instead. We drove out to Fire Island, chased down Mr. Softee, made these amazing cocktails, replanted some plants and ate delicious food here and here. How was your weekend? Happy belated Fourth of July!!

Happy (Early) Friday!

It's a long 4 day weekend for me so we're heading up to the cabin for some good ol' fashion 4th of July fun! This has been a crazy week but I am happy to say I've crossed many things off my to-do list including the biggest feat which was to send out our invitations (sighing a huge sigh of relief). Now on to the next project!

How are you celebrating the holiday? I'd love to hear!

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend is the start of summer or at least it feels like it. It's the start of beach days and bbqs. The start of bonfires at the cabin. How could you not love this weekend? We're fortunate enough to have a 4 day weekend so we're heading up to the cabin to relax and soak in some sun. Hope you have a lovely holiday!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday and Happy (almost) Easter! Apologies for the lack of posts this week. I've been feeling pretty lazy...

What are you up to this fine Spring weekend? My first dress fitting is tomorrow. I'm so excited and pretty relieved to get it out of my shoebox of a closet.  The poor thing has been stuffed in there like a sardine. Then we're spending Easter with Brett's sister and a few friends. I hope to be back on Monday with some photos. Enjoy!

P.s. I really feel for this little girl. Gigantic bunnies ARE scary! Image

Happy 2011!

After a two week vacation it was awfully hard to get up and go to work this morning. My lack of motivation isn't helping my New Years resolution - to work my bum off. I have lots and lots of goals for this year and I'm hoping this blog will keep me on track. Once again, thanks for reading bklynstitch and Happy New Year! Image found here.

A Very Merry Christmas

We're back from an amazing Christmas in North Carolina. We enjoyed the lack of snow, great food and even better people. Due to the east coast snowstorm we ended up staying an extra day. The only thing that was annoying about our trip was that we were in perfect weather and on the beach one day and then shoveling about 2 feet of snow (to make a parking spot) the next. Oh well, c'est la vie! Hope you all had an amazing holiday!
