Seven Years Ago Today
...I met Brett! I remember the day perfectly. My friends said that they were going to the sophomore dorms for a party that night and they wanted me to go because they thought I should meet this guy named Brett. Even though my school was only freshman and sophomores (you transfer to NYC after 2 years) and was only about 150 people, I surprisingly didn't know who he was. They said we liked the same music so we might hit it off. So all day my roommate and I were excited and were trying to figure out what to wear and all those girly things. Then came party time. We walked over to the sophomore dorms and opened the door to the party and boom there was Brett playing the drums. All I could think of was "who is this kid? drums? in a dorm room?" We hit it off instantly and we've been inseparable ever since. So needless to say I'm really glad I went to that party. Happy Friday Friends!

Back in the beginning of July, Brett and I set out to find our wedding venue. For the past two years, we've dreamt about having a wedding in a barn and about two months ago we found our dream barn. After locking down the date early in July, we haven't been back until this past Saturday. After seeing it again and meeting with our venue coordinator, we both left smiling and feeling so excited. Over the next year, I hope to share tidbits here and there of our wedding plans. I was hesitant at first because sometimes I like to keep certain things private or a surprise but now I'm just too excited not to share.

San Francisco was the final destination. Overall, our trip was a trip of a lifetime and I'm so glad we were able to go. Thanks for letting me share some of my photos with you! More of my photos can be found here.

A Proposal Story (warning gushy post ahead)
We're back from California and it was one of the most amazing vacations a girl could ask for! Let me tell you one of my favorite stories of the trip.
The third day of our vacation (we were still in LA) Brett suggested that we go to Griffith park to watch the sunset before we went to dinner. I was all for it since I had never been before.

We got to the park and Brett was driving rather fast (hence the blurry picture). I told him to slow down but he said he didn't want to miss the sunset.

We started walking up the trail and I was just taking pictures and taking in the scenery. The whole time Brett was really quiet (not like him at all). At one point I even asked him if he was feeling ok. He said he was just "taking it all in". So we kept walking...
I asked Brett if I could take his picture. (Clearly, he looks very nervous and not like himself - notice hands in pockets.)

Then we walked some more and as we were almost to the top of the mountain Brett asked if he could take my picture and I of course said yes...

You may be wondering why I look weird and slightly confused in this photo. And that would be because while Brett was taking the picture he said "this is the very last photo of you as a single woman!" Brett proposed right then and there!

I, of course, immediately started crying...

...and freaking out...

...and then we made many phone calls :)

It was the most perfect place and was by far the most amazing feeling I've ever felt! It's been almost two weeks since we got engaged and I'm still just as giggly and still have the same amount of butterflies. I'm so happy and feel so lucky to be able to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. I love you Brett!!!

Westervin and Happy Friday

Yay, Friday! What are you up to this weekend? I can't believe it but this weekend is my sixth year anniversary with Brett! It seems like yesterday that my college friends were trying set me up with him. They thought we had similar taste in music. I remember being all excited because I didn't know who he was. And even though we've been together for six years, I'm still that excited to be with him!
And since I'm being all gushy, make sure to check out the Westervin Giveaway. If you vote for them in the Ultimate Wedding Contest you get a chance to win an awesome necklace from Marañón. Just make sure to leave a comment in the post along with my name (if you don't mind of course). They have a really cute story and sound like a great couple.
Have a great weekend!
